1816 Bird, Charles James b. Clerkenwell, Middlesex, England.
1825 to 1832 Bird, William Served in India with the 54th West Norfolk Regiment.  Married Eliza Jeffery (b. about 1806 – d. 1832) at Carrisbrooke on the Isle of Wight on the 1st May 1825. Eliza died March 1832 with baby daughter Fanny, Trichinopoly India.  William died a Sgt Major in the 54th Regiment in November 1832, and is buried with Eliza and Fanny in St John’s church Trichinopoly. Source: http://www.sumgenius.com.au/bird_family_tree.htm
1828 Bird, William Jnr b. about 1828  in Cannanore India – son of Bird, William (Snr). He was sent to the Madras Male Military orphange until 1840 then he was shipped off the Australia on the “Sesostris” as part of the NSW government scheme to employ Orphans from India as apprentices. Source: http://www.sumgenius.com.au/bird_family_tree.htm
1836 Bird, Charles James First married to May Parrot on 30 May 1836 in Islington, England. There is no further information on this marriage. It is assumed she died young.
1839 Bird, Charles James Enlisted as a Private in the 2nd European Regiment, aged 24.
1840 Bird, Charles James Embarked for Madras, India on the “Reliance,” with the rank of Acting Corporal.
1843 Bird, Charles James Married Sarah Kelton at the Chaplains Station, Madras. Sarah Bird (nee Kelton) died in Coonoor, Nilgiris, India, from cholera on 8 November 1858. That marriage produced two sons (Charles Bird, born on 27 November 1844 and George Bird, born 5 May 1850).

1856 Bird, Charles James Re-enlisted with the 2nd European Regiment. In 1860, he became Sergeant Rff, aged 44. In October 1861 – Supers. The website – http://www.sumgenius.com.au/bird_family_tree.htm – indicates he enlisted 27 November with the 2nd Bengal Light Cavalry (now 20th Light Dragoons). Was promoted to Sergeant EFF Supt October 1861.
1863 Bird, Charles James Was pensioned after 21 years of army service. Became a Sergeant in the Madras Mint till abolition 1868. This was followed by a position as an Overseer in the Mysore Dept. of Public Works, Hassan, and was there 9 years.
1864 Bird, Charles James Married Agnes Clegg (his third marriage) in Blacktown Church, Madras, India. They had two sons. William Henry Bird was born on 31 December 1881 and Anthony Bird was born in 1891 (baptised on 1 September 1923 at Vellankani, India).
1877 Bird, Charles James Became a Jailer, Mysore Central Jail for 7 years until 1884. In 1884, he settled in Bangalore.
1879 Bird, George Married Nancy Augusta Baptist in 1879 and they had nine children. Their fourth daughter, Violet Constance Bird , was born on 6 November 1887, the mother of Rex Bird and grandmother of Ken, Andrea and Milton Bird.  Nana Bird
1880 Bird, Charles Married Agnes Davey in 1880. That marriage produced a son, Robert Charles Bird, born 28 July 1881, the father of Rex Bird and grandfather of Ken, Andrea and Milton Bird. Charles Bird and Agnes Davey had two other children, Hendry and Mildred, but very little information is known of these two children.

1887 Bird, Violet Constance b. 6 November, India,  the mother of Rex Bird and grandmother of Ken, Andrea and Milton Bird. Died 10 May 1954. Nana Bird
1899 Bird, Charles James d. 26 July, Bangalore, India, aged 83 years, and was buried in St. John’s Cemetery.
1904 Bird, Robert Charles Married his first cousin, Violet Constance Bird on 5 July, India.
