Born Andrea Jean Constance Bird on 2 May 1952 at Ootacamund, Nilgiris Hills, South India, to parents Rex and Elizabeth Bird.
Andrea is better known as “Andy”. She used to help out Rex and Betty with finances by working in the evenings. One job was at HaleSchool and another was at the Westpac Bank for the evening shifts. Cheryl and Deanne (nee MacDonald) still do the same sort of job.
Andrea married Lionel deLamotte on (date). Ken was their best man. Ken remembers that when the Priest asked for the rings to bless them, Ken had to loan Lionel his ring. That ring probably is the only one ever to be blessed by both the Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church.
Andrea and Lionel built their first house in Balga, and had some wonderful parties there, that included their 25th wedding anniversary, Lionel’s 40th birthday and all sort of Christmas parties, etc.
The Balga house had a lovely lived in feeling. They still have it, and son (Ashley) is renting it at the moment of writing.
Meanwhile, Andy and Lionel built their dream house at Alexander Heights, and it must be seen to appreciate how beautiful it is, and at the same time, very practical.
Lionel is very colour co-ordinated and everything he puts into the house, although they might not agree about this, seems perfect for what it is required.
